How Nigerian Sellers Can Choose Music for TikTok Business Videos
For a TikTok video promoting your business, start with TikTok’s Commercial Music Library and check the track’s availability for the intended region and placement. A popular sound is not, by itself, permission to use it commercially. Choose music after you know what the video needs to explain.
This guide helps Nigerian sellers prepare a practical music check for product videos. It covers TikTok’s documented business music route and an original production workflow. It does not clear a specific song or promise that an audio choice will increase reach.
Treat a product post as a business use
A clip advertising a dress, demonstrating a bag or promoting a service has a commercial purpose even when the business has not bought an advertisement. Do not decide that a track is suitable merely because you plan to upload the video as a normal post.
TikTok’s business guidance on the Commercial Music Library directs businesses to that library for commercial activity, including organic content, advertisements and branded content. It says businesses cannot use the general music library commercially.
Here, “organic content” means ordinary unpaid distribution of your post. That term does not convert the post into personal entertainment or establish permission for every song. It also differs from purchased engagement, which is a separate promotion decision.
Make the explanation work before adding music
Imagine an Ibadan fashion seller preparing a clip about the closure and pockets of a work dress. This is a hypothetical shop example. The useful information is the dress demonstration, the spoken explanation and the correct product reference.
Prepare a version in which those elements work without a backing track. Then decide whether music adds an appropriate mood. This gives the editor a clear priority if a preferred track is unavailable or makes the words difficult to hear.
Do not turn a useful demonstration into a sequence paced entirely around a song before checking the intended use. A music-led edit can be difficult to revise when the product information, available audio or destination changes.

Use the documented Commercial Sounds route
In TikTok’s current library instructions, a Business Account sees Commercial Sounds when adding sound. A personal account can select Commercial Sounds from the Sounds dropdown. Check the current interface rather than assuming every account opens the same view.
The guide, updated in July 2026, says to select the campaign region and filter by usable placements, theme, genre, mood and duration. Use the region and placement you actually intend. This article does not verify the availability of a named song in Nigeria.
After finding a candidate, keep enough information to identify it again. Record the track name, creator or identifying details shown, intended destination and the date reviewed. A vague instruction such as “use the trending one” is difficult for another editor to check.
Choose music for the specific job in the video
For the dress demonstration, the viewer needs to hear which fastening is being shown and see how the pockets open. A track with a busy vocal section may compete with that explanation. Compare candidates against the actual spoken section, not only the opening shot.
Listen on an ordinary phone speaker as well as your editing headphones. Ask a colleague to repeat the important product detail without looking at your script. If it is unclear, revise the mix or simplify the sound before worrying about fashionable audio.
| Video need | Practical check | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Spoken explanation | Can the important words be understood? | Music masking the product detail. |
| Demonstration | Does the edit leave time to see the action? | Cutting before the fastening or pocket is visible. |
| Intended use | Is the region and placement checked? | Assuming every available sound fits every use. |
| Future reuse | Is a separate clean version retained? | Having only an export with music permanently mixed in. |
Keep incidental audio in the review
Check what the microphone recorded in the shop. A radio, television or another person’s phone may be audible underneath the seller’s explanation. Do not assume that a quiet background song has become irrelevant simply because it was not added during editing.
One practical option is to record the explanation again in a quieter space. Another is to film the demonstration without speech and record a clear narration separately. Choose an approach that preserves an accurate explanation of the actual product.

Do not use a sound label as the whole permission check
TikTok’s business guidance says that using another user’s original sound or other licensed audio requires checking that the proper licence has been obtained. A familiar name, a reposted version or an “original sound” label does not settle your intended use.
If a client insists on a particular recording, ask for the applicable permission information before editing around it. Do not mark the music approved simply because the client supplied a file. If the information remains unclear, pause that choice and consider a documented alternative.
Keep this decision separate from the creative preference. “We like this track” and “we have checked this use” should be recorded as different statements. That separation makes the final review easier for both the business owner and editor.
Recheck the destination when reusing the clip
Keep a clean master export with the narration and product footage separated from optional music where your editing workflow allows. This is a production recommendation, not a claim about a TikTok export feature.
If you later plan to post the clip elsewhere, check the music terms for that destination. This guide establishes no permission for use on Instagram, YouTube, a website or another platform. Retaining the clean version gives you an easier starting point for a fresh review.
Our short-clips guide can help with the separate editing task, while our content-approval guide helps assign the final review.
Finish the content check before considering promotion
Review the selected audio, intended use and product explanation together. Follow the current disclosure and posting requirements in your account. A completed music review is one part of preparation, not proof that every platform requirement has been met.
If considering OgaViral services, read the individual listing and terms. An engagement order does not license a song, guarantee buyers or establish organic growth. Start by making one product video understandable with a music choice you can identify and review.
