How Nigerian Sellers Can Write Clear Restock Announcements

A clear restock announcement tells shoppers exactly what has returned, which options are available and how to check or place an order. Count the saleable stock first, then write the post. Goods still travelling to your shop, items already reserved and damaged pieces should not all appear as stock someone can buy now.

For Nigerian online sellers, the practical task is connecting a public message with a stock record that your team can maintain. A polished announcement cannot resolve a missing size or an old price. Start with the products you can actually offer.

Decide whether this is a restock or an arrival update

Use “back in stock” when the stated product is available through your actual ordering process. If a supplier has only confirmed dispatch, describe an expected arrival instead. A proposed arrival date needs its uncertainty beside it, especially when transport or inspection is still outstanding.

A preorder is another arrangement. It asks someone to order before the product is ready under your stated conditions. Do not use a restock headline while quietly moving the customer into a preorder conversation. The difference affects what the customer expects after contacting you.

This distinction also appears in Shopify's inventory guidance, which separates available units from incoming, committed and unavailable stock. You do not need Shopify to use the basic idea: record what can be sold separately from what is merely present or expected.

Check the exact variants before writing

A variant is a particular option, such as a colour, size or capacity. “Our tote bags are back” can suggest that the full range has returned. If only two colours are available, name them and make the photograph agree with that smaller offer.

Use a short stock check with the product reference, option, received quantity, reserved quantity and any pieces withheld from sale. Have the person responsible for orders confirm the remaining saleable quantity. A delivery carton count alone is not enough when several options share similar packaging.

Check the available options before announcing that a product has returned.

For a hypothetical Ibadan bag shop, suppose 18 navy totes arrive. Four are already allocated to existing orders and two need inspection. That leaves 12 available under this simplified example. All quantities are illustrative, not stock held by OgaViral or a real shop.

Do not combine those 12 with an expected delivery of cream totes next week. Separate the two messages or clearly distinguish the confirmed stock from the expected option. This keeps a shopper from interpreting a photograph of both colours as immediate availability.

Build the announcement around the buying decision

Write the plain information before designing the artwork. Include the product name, returned options, current price if you can maintain it, and the next action. Explain whether the customer can order directly or must first confirm the option with your team.

For the fictional shop, an illustrative caption could read: “Navy everyday totes are back in stock. Please send the product name and quantity through our usual enquiry channel so we can confirm current availability and the total before you pay.” Replace that wording with your real process.

If you include an amount, explain what it covers. A purely illustrative ₦8,500 each is different from ₦8,500 for a pair, and delivery may be separate. That figure is a writing example, not a recommended retail price or an OgaViral service rate.

Choose a photograph that matches the arrival

Use a current photograph of the actual products when possible. If older photographs are still accurate, check the colour, strap, packaging and included accessories against the new batch. A similar product from a supplier's catalogue may have details your stock does not share.

A large pile can create the impression of plentiful availability. If some items are already allocated, avoid presenting the entire pile as freely available. You can show one representative item and describe the confirmed options without making a public quantity claim.

Keep reserved items separate from the stock available for new orders.

Prepare the response before the post goes live

Give the person answering messages the same product and availability information. Agree on how stock becomes reserved and who updates the shared record. Otherwise, two people may offer the final item to different shoppers while each believes it remains available.

Our product-enquiry guide can help structure that individual conversation. Keep any delivery promise consistent with your checked delivery information. A product being available does not establish same-day dispatch or delivery to every location.

Before sharing, open the destination from a phone and confirm that the current product is easy to identify. A working homepage is not enough if the announced option is missing or still labelled unavailable. Ask a colleague to explain what they think they can order.

Keep the message useful as stock changes

Assign an update owner before publication. When an option sells out, correct the product destination and the public message where the platform allows. Check scheduled copies and other channels too. Do not leave an old announcement inviting payment for an unavailable option.

A restock post does not need invented urgency. Use a limited-quantity statement only when the stock record supports it. Avoid “selling fast” unless you have current evidence. The more useful message is often a precise description of what remains and how to confirm it.

If you consider OgaViral services as part of wider promotion, review the selected listing and conditions first. Purchased engagement is separate from organic interest and confirmed orders. Service availability does not establish platform approval or guarantee sales.

For your next restock, count the saleable options, write one accurate announcement and prepare the response. Keep the message connected to the stock record until the offer changes.
