Social Media Client Brief: A Checklist for Nigerian Resellers

Social Media Client Brief: A Checklist for Nigerian Resellers

A social media client brief records what you will do, who the campaign should reach, how much the client will spend and who approves the work. For Nigerian resellers and social media managers, it should also identify the exact account or post, the selected service, delivery expectations and how you will report progress.

You can keep it to one clear page. The aim is to agree on the important details before you accept an instruction such as “promote my page” and turn it into a paid order.

This guide includes a checklist and a brief you can adapt for your next client.

Start with the business goal

Ask what the client wants people to do after seeing the content. “More engagement” is too broad to guide every decision. A boutique may want enquiries about available sizes. A musician may want listeners to explore a new release. A tutor may want parents to ask about lessons.

Record one primary goal, then explain which part of the work you are supplying. Writing content, running an advertising campaign and purchasing a view quantity are different activities. Do not let one broad package name hide those differences.

For illustration, a Lagos clothing seller might ask for help promoting a new collection. Your brief could cover preparing two product videos and reporting genuine enquiries. If the client also requests a purchased service, list it separately and explain its stated delivery conditions.

Confirm the audience and service area

Ask where the business can actually serve customers. “Nigeria” may be appropriate for a nationwide digital service, but it is too broad for a food vendor delivering within one neighbourhood.

Note the audience's location, relevant interests and buying questions. Then separate that desired audience from any audience characteristics a selected service explicitly provides.

A Nigerian-targeted listing does not automatically mean delivery to a particular city, age group or group of ready buyers. If a characteristic is essential and is not stated, clarify it before giving the client a commitment.

You can review OgaViral's available services while preparing the brief. Choose the service after understanding the requirement, rather than promising a result and searching for a matching option afterwards.

Write down exactly what the client is buying

Describe the deliverables in words someone outside your business can understand. Include the platform, content format, quantity and work you will personally carry out.

Be equally clear about exclusions. Does your fee include video editing, caption writing, replies to messages or only placing and monitoring an approved service order? If revisions are included, define what can be revised and when.

Keep a copy of the service description used for the quote. Where you include a refill option, record its stated period and conditions. Do not describe a refill as permanent retention or promise a refund that the applicable terms do not support.

Agree on the products, content and tasks covered by the campaign before placing an order.

Check the destination and permission to proceed

Collect the exact profile or content link required for the selected service. Ask the client to confirm that it belongs to the intended campaign and that they authorise you to place the order.

Open the link yourself. A profile URL and a video URL are not interchangeable. Avoid relying on a screenshot of a username when you can record and check the actual destination.

OgaViral's ordering conditions require public access and warn against overlapping orders for the same destination. Agree that the client will tell you about other active orders and will not change or hide the destination during delivery.

For a public-link service, collect the required link rather than asking for the client's social account password. Keep private client documents and payment information out of screenshots you share as progress updates.

Separate your fee from the campaign budget

State the amount the client is approving in naira and explain what it covers. If you charge for content production, account management or order monitoring, make that scope clear alongside any service or advertising spend.

You do not need to promise that a price will remain available indefinitely. State when you will recheck the selected service before placing the order, and agree on what happens if its cost or availability changes.

Record the maximum authorised spend. A remaining wallet balance is not permission to add extra services. If the client asks for another post, platform or quantity, confirm the revised scope and cost first.

Agree on timing without promising instant completion

Keep three timings separate: when the client must provide materials, when you expect to submit the order and the delivery information stated for that service.

Instant start is not instant completion. Avoid promising that an entire campaign will finish by a particular hour unless you have a sound basis for that commitment.

Set an update time you can control, such as sending a progress report on an agreed date. If a service is still processing, report the current status accurately rather than describing it as finished to meet the reporting deadline.

Our guide to using an SMM panel in Nigeria explains the ordering process. Keep each client's approved brief beside the relevant order ID so you can connect an update to the correct job.

Use this social media client brief template

Copy the following fields into your preferred document or form. Replace every bracketed item before asking the client to approve it.

Client and approver: [Business name and person authorised to approve spending]

Campaign goal: [The main action or outcome the business wants]

Audience and service area: [Who the content is for and where the business serves customers]

Platform and destination: [Platform, exact profile or post URL, and confirmed permission]

Included work: [Content tasks, selected service, quantity and any reporting work]

Not included: [Tasks requiring a separate agreement]

Budget: [Approved naira amount, what it covers and any spending limit]

Timing: [Materials deadline, planned submission, stated delivery information and next update]

Conditions: [Access requirements, other active orders and applicable refill or refund conditions]

Measurement: [Delivery records and business outcomes to report separately]

Approval: [Approver, approval date and the version approved]

Get approval for the actual scope

A useful approval message is specific enough to refer back to. For example: “Please confirm that you approve the attached brief, destination link and total of [amount] for the listed work. Any additional platform, quantity or content task will need a revised quote.”

Use a channel that leaves a retrievable record. If you discuss a change by phone, send a written summary and obtain confirmation before acting on it.

For several client accounts, give each brief a simple reference and keep its revisions together. This helps prevent an old link or an earlier quantity from being used after the client has changed the request.

Report delivery and business results separately

A completed service order is not the same as a successful business campaign. Purchased followers, likes or views should not be reported as organic audience growth or proof of customer demand.

Report the service, quantity, order status and relevant dates in one section. Record genuine enquiries, confirmed sales or other agreed business measures separately, using information you can support. If you cannot establish what caused a sale, say so.

Before your next client order, complete the brief, check the destination and obtain approval. Then create your OgaViral account or use your existing account to review the current service details. Clear instructions give you a firmer basis for ordering and a clearer record when it is time to update the client.
